What is PLA Independent?

PLA Independent is PLA Online School’s self-paced Kindergarten–Grade 12 learning offer. The 36-week plan includes initial orientation, a subject plan, digital resources for agreed subjects, teacher review of selected work and a weekly written family progress summary. Daily live classes and one-to-one tutoring are not included.

How does teacher review work?

The allowance is up to two selected submissions each study week in Kindergarten, three in Elementary and Middle School, and four in High School. Selected writing, projects and extended responses receive teacher feedback within two business days during the study calendar, with one revision included. Allowances apply per student across the whole subject plan, not separately to each course.

What is the difference between online school and homeschooling?

Online school usually provides a school-led program, while homeschooling describes a family’s chosen education arrangement. The terms can overlap in everyday conversation. Confirm who provides instruction, keeps records and is responsible for any state requirements before enrolling.

Which program should I explore first?

Start with your child’s current grade and learning needs. Kindergarten focuses on early foundations; Elementary develops core skills; Middle School builds independence; High School adds course-planning and graduation questions. The program pages explain the decisions for each stage.

How much help will my child need from an adult?

A parent or learning adult guides Kindergarten activities and submits work. Elementary learners need help with routines, reading practice and materials. Older students take more responsibility while parents continue to check the plan and progress. Families receive a weekly written summary.

Does online learning mean being on a screen all day?

PLA Independent uses self-paced study with selected assignment review. A family routine can combine digital resources with reading, writing, art, movement and hands-on practice away from the screen. Daily live classes are not included, and exact study time depends on the learner and agreed subject plan.

Can a child learn while the family travels?

Plan reliable access to digital resources, a suitable workspace and a way to submit selected work. Check the study calendar, attendance expectations and any residency or in-person requirements for the chosen education arrangement before traveling.

How can students connect with other children?

Families can plan local library activities, suitable sports or arts groups and shared projects with friends alongside self-paced study. These are family-arranged ideas. PLA clubs and school-run social events are not confirmed on this website.

What should I check about teachers?

Individual PLA teacher profiles are not yet published. Contact the school for the names, roles, relevant experience and subject responsibilities of the people who will review your child’s work. Confirm how work and questions are exchanged before enrolling.

Where can I find the tuition?

PLA Independent annual tuition is $1,390 USD for Kindergarten, $1,790 USD for Elementary School, $2,290 USD for Middle School, $2,790 USD for High School for 36 study weeks. Pay once or in 10 monthly installments of the same annual total, with no separate registration fee. An installment is part of the annual plan, not cancel-anytime monthly enrollment. The tuition page shows each installment amount and included support.

Are state requirements the same everywhere?

No. Start with the official education resources for your state and confirm the type of school arrangement you are considering. Our state guides link to official starting points and identify useful enrollment questions.

Can I enroll or make a payment here?

Call PLA using the details on the Contact page to discuss enrollment availability and the next step. This website does not submit an application or accept payment. Its program finder only opens the relevant guide; obtain the written enrollment, withdrawal and refund terms before paying or changing schools.
