Plan Kindergarten with Utah in mind.

These official resources cover different education arrangements. Homeschool guidance applies when your family chooses that route; it does not establish how PLA enrollment is classified in your state.

Read the current notification guidance

Utah’s Home School page explains the local district notification process and links the governing code and recent homeschool amendments. Use that current guidance rather than an older affidavit checklist.

Home School
Separate homeschool and private school

USBE’s FAQ states that a homeschool is not a private school under Utah law. The page also links dual enrollment information, which addresses a different arrangement from full-time home instruction.

Home School
Discuss support services with the district

The resource distinguishes special education evaluation from possible services and from dual enrollment services. A family should discuss the proposed arrangement with the district instead of assuming the same services in every learning format.
